a pie fourm would die pretty fast. Think about it, Cherry, apple, pumpkin, watermellon, etc. All we would be doing is yelling at each other which pie is the best.

You should notice a speed increase on the site. It's a simple extension used to reduce the size of the pages, using php zlib extension to compress Vanilla pages and redirecting request to the core js and css files to a "minified" and compressed version of them.

It also reduces the number of request by packing the 4 main Vanilla js files into on which should help the server.

more themes please? If ya can find a red one, I would be pleased>..

Nice, personally I think we could use a media page, where we post pics, videos and other interesting stuff concerning CS2 and D3.
Also maybe an off-topic media page where we post funny pics & videos, and maybe also pics of ourselves.

or maybe we should have a giant mashpit where all the fourms are bleeding into one another!

The Low Cal thing is working wonders for me as I have slow internet. Vanilla is now insanely fast.

Yeah Vanilla is definitely next gen, pitty most communities still use the old systems (At least PHPBB2 is pretty much dead nowdays, that system is really outdated)

So the next step is going to take place over the next few weeks. I want to transform this website into a blizzard community instead of just a warcraft 3 community.

I plan on getting a domain (blizzardfanboy.com again or blizzardtalk.com or something like that). And eventually I want to make some content on the website that focuses on Blizzard in general.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, let me know.

I think we should focus on things that other sites lack. For instance a gallery of screenshots, maybe humorous content created by us (internet-meme-styled images with blizzard chars etc.) and of course a kickass community, which we already have.
I could help with whatever's needed; Graphics, writing content and whatnot. I also have a lot of free time.

how about a page where we can upload atleast somewhat game related pictures and comment them? and a news page where anyone can add articles but they have to be approved (which we've been talking about for years...)

All this sounds great guys, I feel the way the pages are set up at this point is rather messy (But I still understand it). A main page with some decent content in terms of news and funny stuff, I am all for!

Some people who are very dedicated can gather a lot of news from blizzard etc. from different sources around the web and combine the important ones in one place =)

You guys never rethought the blog idea? I thought it was a pretty nice idea until Jason surprised us and reincarnated warcraft3.com.

I thought so too, but now that I frequent diii.net, which host a lot of different blogs, I think that it might not be such a good idea after all. Based solely on my personal experience I can say that their blogs are nothing of interest, and I go there only for real d3 news. Could be that others think differently though.

I'm not even sure we need to stick to blizzard anymore. Most everything we have here is off topic. We could just make ourselves a forum and have a podcast (or some other form of content) about random shizz. We could be something like nsfwforums.com or something.

I like the idea... just make it a random off topic forum, have some content that is blizzard or games we enjoy, there is a podcast out there called teh mediocre show, I think that this community would be a lot like that. Just random crap, maybe its been mentioned in the main media and its just our own feelings. I believe we have enough topics here to create a weekly show.

I've had the same idea with the people I smoke out with and just from experience with that if you gather a group of ecentric people together they will find hilarious shit to talk about

Everyone now can "facebook style" wall post on each others profiles. All you have to do is go into someone's profile and you'll see a 'write' button and tada, you post on their profile!

I'm pretty sure it's only text that works right now. Also it slightly crops your already small avatar but it's the first version of the extension and I'm sure it will be fixed with an update soon. Go ahead and try it out. You can view anybody's wall posts by simply going to their profile.

I also updated a few extensions and tried to update to the newest version of vanilla (which I failed at but I'll try again when I have more time).

to attract new members, we should have a main page with some super hectic riddle or series of riddles that new users need to answer correctly before they can register. then whenever someone makes a new post, we can all point and laugh about how long it must've taken them to answer everything. they'd become the target of all our jokes to come forever and ever.

Well you see the tabs up top that say discussion and account and all that jazz? I can add more, make custom pages. That's what I want to do with the podcast or whatever we wind up doing. Maybe we'll do a blog or something, I don't know yet. We could make some good blog material if we let our focus stray away from blizzard, we have some pretty creative people here that can make some funny comics and editorials and such about the gaming industry or the internet or everything.

But first thing first is I want to get us a new domain because sooner or later jason is going to stop paying for warcraft3.com and we're going to need a url that everyone can use to get to the site. Then once we have the url I want to put us on a better host. I'm poor right now though so everything is on hold at the moment. Once I get some money coming in I'll be able to start putting all of this into effect.

ok cool. what domain do we want? did we ever decide? I think blog/podcast is good i mean to say both usually work. A blog with an RSS that will also tell people when the next podcast is up.

Maybe we should send money to Blaze via paypal... We could send 1$ each and that way we'll be able to rent a domain for 2-3 years.
If you guys are up for it then I'll happily be the first one to send.

that is actually really cool. After i get more cash i would be willing, i have 20 bucks til wednesday and even then i got more bills. So yeah... but this idea would be great really.

Garden sounds great and all, but when that time comes is when I will worry about that. For now there is no Garden and even after it is released there will be a good amount of time before the wrinkles are ironed out and a good number of add-ons are developed.
