It actually has decent combat, interesting PvP, and great storytelling.

i started a diff char on another server because of the queue. shades of WoW release. it's decent. i find it a bit  boring because i'm more into warcraft type fantasy rpgs than sci-fi shit. but it's different. will play for a month at least.

This is about as good as WoW, maybe better.

Meh, the game looks alright, but the only reason I'd probably play it is for some decent PVP and it seems like it's too early to tell whether or not it's shitty. I'd rather stick to EVE than this at the moment.

Still want this game. Still deciding if to purchase it.

i'm too low level to really know the game. although i have some first impressions i can share. tired atm. will post more later.

Blaze if you liked KOTOR 1, this is about as good as that, and it's online. it's basically KOTOR online, the game mechanics are like a hybrid between KOTOR and WoW, and they work very well. Some classes can spam one ability but that should be patched out soon. The worlds are very well done, Tatooine being the stand out so far. The story arcs and voice acting are pretty good, standard BioWare material. 

However, they do do server maintenance at the same time globally

KOTOR is one of my favs.

this game is very good. as far as MMOs go, the best experience i ever had was WoW. this comes very close. but to be fair, i was already a huge Warcraft fan before WoW and all the bugs and shitty class balance issues (EDIT: when WoW was first released) were made easier to swallow thanks to the lore. i would give WoW 10/10. my MMO experience is limited to Lineage 2, City of Heroes/Villains, Everquest 2 and some other shitty ones.

this game (so far) i'd give an 8/10. will only get better with patches and time. i'll break it down as such:

Character design

Pros:

• you can customize quite a bit when it comes to facial features and such

Cons:

• all races are human in shape and size. i wanted to be an ewok (yes, fuck you, an ewok)
• no racials (ie. tauren HP, undead will of the foresaken like in WoW). while this makes balancing EASY, it takes away flavour, imo
• said customization doesn't mean jack shit really when you're zoomed out most of the time

Classes

I can't really give pros and cons. the class system in this game is.. different. no real class "role" it seems. so far anyway. everyone's a noob. we'll see how it pans out end game. horde and alliance.. err. republic and empire have pretty much the same classes but i haven't really tried them all to see if they have the same skills/talents. my guess is,  yes.


Mechanics

Combat is pretty straightforward. But there isn't any sort of auto attack which is a huge con for me. everything looks cool though. i mean my sith maruader blocks shit from behind his back my holding his lightsabre behind his back. talent tree is similar to WoW. nothing unusual for a WoW player.

Questing and leveling

Pretty easy. So far. just like WoW but possibly easier. Quests were kinda boring at first but now the plot is actually interesting. one element that quests include is to choose a light/dark side option when talking to the quest giver.

You also have a companion who helps leveling.

I agree with most of TMP's points. Classes do seem to be pretty much the same for each side, for a WoW player the comparisons are

Jedi Knight/Sith Warrior-Pally/Warr/DK
Jedi Consular/Sith Inquisitor-Priest/Mage/Warlock maybe a bit of Shammy
Bounty Hunter/Trooper/Smuggler Gunslinger- Closest class in WoW is a hunter, but all 3 are much more awesome than a hunter
Imperial Agent,Smuggler Scoundrel- Looks like it plays similar to a ranged rogue
Sith Assassin-Somewhere between a Rogue and a Shammy

as for class roles I haven't progressed to the point where a group needs anything more than a competent healer, every other class including what are supposed to be tanks are really just dps. There have been a few boss mechanics, but nothing like WoW.

sith characters and jedi characters can use lightsabers. sith warrior, inquisitor, jedi knight, consulars etc. and they don't own guys using guns in this game. so far anyway.
