First thing's first: If you want me to take them down, I will.

I put the smallest possible Google ads I could at the bottom of the page. I'm not encouraging you to click them. Google pays pennies for page visits based on how many people just see the links, never mind clicking them.

This is just adding to the WCOM fund account. I doubt that there will be more than a few cents brought in from those ads, but whatever there is will be put towards WCOM.

I won't be adding any more anywhere else, and as I said if you want these taken down I will. I would never try to make a profit off of this site. I just want to keep it going.

    Thoughts?

My only thought is that my adblock prevents me from seeing the ad in the first place...

I downloaded adblock a while back but have yet figured out how to properly use it.
    Derp.

The ads are fine, Blaze. So long as there are no laundry detergent ads, I'm fine with it.

Well if it bothers anyone I'll take em down. Like I said, isn't really gonna be brining in any funds.

If it messes with someone's phone or ipod or whatevs, that's a good enough excuse.

Well that makes it sound even more pointless (no offense). I say leave them up for a few months, and see how much it is worth? Then make a decision.

Wow, why are you all just taking this lying down? This is supposed to be a community forum. Not some cold-blooded commercialized capitalist conglomerate. You know, I may have been MIA for a while, but that doesn't mean I'm going to sit here and let Blaze sell us out. Who put this guy in charge, anyway?

Why should we all slave, day after day, on this site, clicking and posting, meanwhile Richie Rich over here is making pennies off our own sweat and blood? Notice how he vaguely said 'pennies' and didn't specify how much. Convenient. 1,000 pennies are still pennies.

"Are you kidding me??" you ask. "This man is making 100 USD (United States of America dollars) every time one of us browses a page of this site?!"

"The facts" I reply, "speak for themselves."

Keep in mind that making money off of ads is exactly the same way spammers make their living. Very dignified, Blaze. I hope you feel proud of yourself when you buy that new Lexus. Let me guess, next you're going to ask us to help your Nigerian prince friend.

    Not on my watch.

Say "NO!" to ads! Especially if you're dads!

After a couple of months the Google ads netted an income of $0.01.

I'm gonna try an amazon affiliate ad on the bottom and see if it works out. If you guys buy anything from amazon, ever, you can use the image ad below to get to amazon.com.

If you get to amazon.com via the image ad below, our WCOM account will receive 4% of the profit from whatever purchases you make. You pay no extra money for your purchases.

Sad truth is ads nowadays are quite hard to grab income with unless they are incredibly intrusive, even with hundreds of people looking at them you'll be lucky to pay off hosting AND keep users happy. Best thing I'd say you can do is just ask people to donate a dollar or so a month.

Last year we did a donation run and raised enough to fund this site for a little over a year. I'm just trying to add a bit to the account so I can stall having to ask again for as long as possible.

I can't see an Amazon ad on this site. It might be because I have adblocker running, but that usually has an "unblock" button where ever it is blocking something. Care to copy-paste the link in this thread?

edit: plz hurry I want to buy some books.
