I know we had a good TV thread at some point, but I couldn't find it.  What have you been watching lately?

    image
I just finished Dollhouse a few days ago (created by Joss Whedon who did Buffy/Firefly).  The show was about people who contract their lives to a company as "dolls" in return for a large sum of cash.  As a doll your brain is wiped and reprogrammed for clients who hire you (usually for love/sex).  The main plot revolved around an FBI agent trying to free a girl contracted to the dollhouse.  It was a bit inconsistent in quality, particularly if it was a plot of the week episode.  But when it was good, it was really fucking good.  The last half of season 2 was probably some of the best television I've seen, there was always a mind-blowing twist at the end of each episode.

I'm also watching Louie, and almost caught up to season 2.  This one combines Louis CK's stand-up with vignettes of his life as a divorced father of two.  It's sort of like mixing Seinfeld with Woody Allen.  Sometimes the episodes are just depressing and not really funny at all, but I still find myself watching it.

Just finished watching It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia.  If you don't watch this show, you really should.  Comedy goldmine.

Starting Community now I think since I don't have any other comedies.  Will get back to watching Sons of Anarchy and Breaking Bad when I get a chance.  Also gotta start Game of Thrones.

I wanted to watch Dollhouse, thought it looked interesting.

Game of Thrones is the shit. Can't wait for the next installment.

I don't have cable at the moment, so all my TV viewing has been from Netflix instant on my Wii.

Been watching Lots of Top Gear. I watched the latest few seasons and then started from way in the beginning. Think I'm through season 3 now.

Also been watching Rocko's Modern Life from the beginning.

And then I go to my friend's house and watch Jersey Shore every Thursday night. That's tonight, baby!

I did the same thing a couple months ago. I remembered a lot of bits from it. Show was awesome, but I never realized how the format was: setting, run through all the possible jokes, change setting, go through every possible joke again. Still hilarious.

That's the only one worth watching. I usually get bored quickly of car talk, but that show is always entertaining.

I've been wanting to watch Cowboy Bebop again, does that count?

If I'm ever in the mood to watch TV I decide to play video games instead, i watch about 0 hours of TV a week but find plenty of other ways to numb my mind

    Yeah, British.

Watching the early seasons of the British Top Gear give me hope for the American one though.

The American Top Gear was dull and the cast had no charisma, but the British Top Gear is the same in the early goings. They actually like and respect James May in the first few seasons. wtf

But in later seasons the cars are just a prop and it becomes a bit of a comedy show. Plus all the challenges seem more and more faked.

Yeah I've been keeping up with that one. The episodes tend to be hit or miss, and there were a few times when I almost stopped watching it. It's always had great season finales that pull me back in though. It would be a lot better if they focused more on the seasonal plot rather than plot of the week.

Has anyone been watching the new season of Curb? I heard that so far it's the best yet.

I re-watched the 1st season of Archer, all of Family Guy and then started on American Dad.  Almost done with that now, maybe moving on to Futurama after?

I like Futurama better than all of those. A different sort of comedy though. I feel like it's not as crude humor as the others you listed.

I decided on Running Wilde which stars the guy who played G.O.B. from Arrested Development, it's pretty funny.

Only 1 season of that too right?  I watched season 1, I like this better so far because GOB is the fucking man and he is basically the same character in this.

    EDIT-
Nope 2 seasons and Netflix says that I have seen both.

He's brilliant in 30 Rock as well (in case you didn't know).

He's also got some new show coming up about being a first time father. Forgot what it's called but the trailer made it look funny enough.

    Archer is the best.
    Futurama 2nd.
    American Dad 3rd.
    Family Guy failed to place.

I've started watching Peep Show on Hulu.  I can't believe I haven't heard of it until recently, probably the funniest show I've seen in a while.  I find myself relating a lot to Mark.

There's a pretty large amount of bitch slapping that occurs also.

On Episode 6 now, IMO it is getting better with each episode.

Justified suffers from having some really really good characters who aren't on screen nearly enough.

Also, I don't understand how you can like American Dad and not like Family Guy

I don't understand how you can like either of them. Most episodes of Family Guy go from "sometimes funny" to "incredibly stupid" if them watch it twice. I haven't seen much American Dad but I don't think it's made me laugh.

my roommate watches Justified, i don't like it very much.  I think the marshall is somewhat cool but all of the villains are lackluster

    dislike American Dad

I think boyd has developed nicely, and i think that's also a great transition for him. The episode where those miners try to get him to do the heist with him but he counters their backstab? Great shit.

who here has actually listened to the audio of the people of jonestown convincing one another to drink the koolaid while screaming children are heard in their death throes in the background? this is what a cult sounds like, and the organization cat is member to is spot on in terms of deranged indoctrination preceding a predictable mass suicide

Caught up with Breaking Bad today.  That last episode, holy shit.  I was starting to doubt this season, I think they were short on having enough plot for a full season, but things are finally picking up.  Gus is the man.
