btw I'm impressed by the way its told, the guy clearly has a talent for writing horror. He uses the same style as HP Lovecraft where every supernatural thing is documented, has dates/evidence etc., and yet its all vague which leaves a lot of room for the imagination.

yeah there's games like these every once in awhile on somethingawful. this one is especially cool to me because it doesn't require the hours and hours of solving code that the others usually do. this is more of a watch and see what happens kind of thing. I think slender man is such a cool character, fucking creepy and well-conceived by the guys behind this. grade A horror icon.

:edit: it seems slender man was created in a "Create paranormal images" thread, but was used as the subject of marble hornets. regardless, the guys behind marble hornets really filled out his character into something awesome

yeah it kept me on the edge of my seat. Its interesting how watching a dude in a custom or whatever becomes 10 times more interesting when other people take interest in it (the people in the video)

Pretty cool, I bet it was a fun project. It's interesting how there's really nothing scary about a tall, skinny guy in a suit but the way he's portrayed makes him creepy as fuck.

It's cool how the slender man "phenomenon" and the peoples' reactions to him evolve as the tapes progress. The transition from Alex being the hunter to the hunted, the apparent psychological influence the events have on him, etc. It is very strange how at times slender man seems to be something extremely dangerous, while other times (like the outdoor forest scene where he is hanging out off to the cameraman's left) he is something to be hunted, studied, documented or even just ignored.

I was entertained... makes me want to attempt a homegrown video project.

some parts were kinda lame and pulled me out of it, like that forest scene you mentioned. He just stands there in broad daylight and they try talking to him and stuff and he doesn't answer. It makes him look like some friendless pervert or something. Also the part where he enters the room and we see his shadow, signifying that hes like right next to the protagonist. I mean, if he gets that close and the protagonist stays alive after that then maybe hes not that dangerous after all.
In the beginning theres this video of him peeking through the windows as if hes trying to get in and stuff, that was scary as fuck. But now that we see that even when he does, nothing happens, it makes things less interesting.

the thing about the slender man in this series is it's based off the slender man created in the paranormal thread, but he's not the same. in the paranormal thread, the slender man was a child stealer, a murderer, and had tentacle arms and shit. if you read the wiki page about him in the series, they've turned him into something different but still creepy. instead of being scary because he kills people, the creepiness lies in his questionable motives and the thought of what the fuck he is.

"The Slender Man moves very slowly & stiffly when directly observed by eye or camera. However, he/it seems to be able to cover distances very rapidly when not under direct observation. This leads one to believe that he/it is capable of some form of teleportation. Another interpretation is that the Slender Man operates on something akin to a quantum level of reality, where his position in time & space cannot be determined without direct observation (see below).

The Slender Man does not seem to able to communicate directly with people. He/it therefore would need to use a proxy, something or someone to speak for him. This role is perhaps the purpose of the Masked Man, AKA Totheark. It is possible that Totheark serves as the "voice" of the Slender Man, a way of conveying his intentions & goals to others. As his thought processes are likely as strange & unnatural as he/it is, it is not surprising that Totheark's messages are bizarre & difficult to decipher. It is only slowly becoming clear that Totheark (&, by extention, the Slender Man) wants J to get them something, & that that is why he/it/they are interfering with J's life.

The Slender Man is obviously not a human being, or even a natural creature of earthly origin. He/It does not seem to obey the normal laws of physics as we understand them, & seems to operate at least partially in another reality. I suspect that the Slender Man is a being from another dimension, one in which the laws of physics behave quite differently. To speculate further, I'd guess that the reality that the Slender Man calls home is one that behaves on a macroscopic level similarly to how quantum particles do in our reality. The reasoning behind this is that the Slender Man is able to distort time & space with his presence, & may even be able to control these distortions (these distortions seems to affect electromagnetic recording equipment, & perhaps other electrical devices, as well). These quantum-like distortions would explain the temporal simultaneity & spacial superposition that the Slender Man seems to exhibit. He/it is able to move through space (& perhaps even time) very quickly when not being observed, in a manner reminiscent of a quantum-level particle ("the act of observing disturbs the observed"). It is possible that direct observation of the Slender Man constrains him/it to our reality, giving Alex (& later J) a means of delaying the Slender Man's influence. How Alex determined that capturing him/it on camera would have this limiting effect remains unknown."

The way he distorts the audio and video on the camera is a nice touch

    man..

viewing all this shit yesterday was enough to have it enter my dreams last night. I went to a friends house and we both went to bed fairly early (11pm). I kept waking up with the feeling that slender man was watching me, so I'd sit up super fast with a scared look on my face and it would scare my friend and then him being scared would scare me. the next morning he said I was doing some extremely crazy shit in my sleep like sitting up and outstretching my arms as far as I could, JUST LIKE I WAS FUCKIN SLENDER MAN

    jesus christ

reading stuff like what Caz just quoted becomes far less scary/far more ridiculous after I got to study some physics. Not sure whether this is a good thing.

Also Caz that dream sounds awesome. I mean I'm sure it wasn't fun but it was probably pretty special.
