Anonymous posting?

    I was thinking about implementing this here on the forum, like it is over at 4chan. What do you guys and gals think?

    There are options.

    -The whole forum could be open to anonymous posting (with or without the ability of any user to opt to ignore all anonymous posts)
    -We could dedicate a category that is open to anonymous posting (in which you could choose to block the category and never see the posts).
    -We could limit each individual anonymous poster to no more than X posts withing X hours or days or something.
    -We could not do it at all.

    Edit: The purpose of this is to make the site more welcoming and easier to jump in to than it is now and also may increase the number of posts from the userbase we already have.

    Just an idea, let me know your thoughts.

    I think it would be used a lot by people who are already members, dicking around and stirring shit up. I don't see a big problem with that, though, and I do like the idea of more members. I wouldn't mind the whole forum being open to it.

    i would like the system to be anonymous posting by default with an option of filling in your user information to have your registered name on your post

    I like Ceo's idea, it would probably spice things up a little bit, and like Blaze said it would make newcomers feel more comfortable with posting here. I have several friends who occasionally view this forum but never post in it, and I bet they'd try if all it would take would be to post anonymously.

    Give them complete freedom for awhile, and see how it turns out.

    I'm not sure how many anonymous users come to this site though.

    But you can't create new discussions as a guest, it just isn't an option with vanilla at this time.

    Also Anon posters cannot post in or see discussions in "The DL" category.
