I'm considering building a website to promote myself with my resume and writings and yadda yadda. I'm looking for a cms system to use and I want to hear any opinions you guys and gals have about what's out there. I've done some research and have experience using WP, e107, and a couple others, but I want to hear your experiences and knowledge.

Basically what I want to create is a very simple website with some links to download some of my stuff and a minimalistic blog. Very simple stuff, but I'm not going to hard code anything because I feel it unnecessary and it would be very time consuming for me. I just want a space to call my own that I can update easily and give a simple, but unique design.

    Suggestions would be great.

    lurked and found this thread.

Drupal- acts like a multi-functional printer: it does everything you could possibly imagine with mods among other things. The one down fall of this like multi-functional printers is that it fails at doing random significant ones. You should kill your fucking self if you say drupal's forum mod can be ever considered "decent" or "good". If you can actually make good out of this thing and probably compromising one way or another you might be happy with this. Besides this it's actually quite easy to skin on your own.

(BULL FUCKING EYES) Word Press- Is nearly the opposite of Drupal, sticks to it's job and really does a nice job at blogging and not trying to make it a complex hell that is not necessary for a lot of people. It has some cool mods and a good theme skinning community as well. Easier to skin than Drupal.

e107- the thing in the middle of these, that can miraculously stretch between both it can either be a complex hell that is ridiculous or a piece of cake to control depending on what plugins you use. Depends on what you do but can be quite hard to skin depending on your plugins.

Howdy, Stranger!
