Israel and Palestine

    I don't get it.

If this was a movie, it would be Star Wars and Israel/America would be the Empire and Palestine would be the rebels. The Empire is going around, using its deathstar on planets and fucking shit up while rebel forces wage ineffective counter attacks. The only difference is, there are no Jedis or lightsabres in this story, just a bunch of kids with home made rockets.

How can anyone even remotely justify Israel's actions? (not saying Palestine has clean hands, but they aren't the ones getting support)
How can anyone justify anything that prolongs armed conflict in this situation over peace talks and negotiation?
It's pretty obvious by now that neither side will "win", so why try for anyting but a balanced solution?

    I don't get it.

    I don't understand why the two can't fucking co-exist.
God damn the middle eastern and their weird religious ideas...

Let's go to Las Vegas and ignore them.
I assign you the task of assembling the poker chips.
& by "assembling", I mean "steal".

    :cat

however, we have a similar problem in quebec; the french want the province for themselves, to pass a refferendum so that it could become a country of its own (LOL).
The english on the other hand just want the french to shut up and to live happily with the rest of canada attached.

I stand neutral on this. Id quebec seperates, I'll try it for a few years but eventually it WILL fail and I'll move to either Paris, London, Chili or Australia.
I'll hide out in your backyard shed and you can financially support me with poker chips.

    poker chips.
    POKER CHIPS.
They are the secret to life.

Chile should implement a spelling test to restrict entry.

And how is Chile even in that list? London, good. Paris, awesome. Australia, *insert slang for good*. Chile???

The answer is religion and nationalism... And militarism I guess, theres a very big effort to turn everyone here (and people over in Palestine as well I bet) to aggressive nationalists who will agree to fight and die for their country. Its all severely fucked up, I don't really get people.

It's like playing a warcraft 3 map where you can never wipe out the opposing army. You keep destroying their buildings, yes, and the towns looks really shitty yes, but they keep coming back and never fucking die!

a few years ago i had this gourgeous girlfriend named jessica. When i was 17 she was hit by a car while we were walking down a highway, i saw it all happen and had the job of identifying her body. I still jerk of to her 3 years later and when I do, images of the accident flash though my mind. It doesn't turn me on but it also doesn't stop me jerking off.

people are educated to become militaristic patriots on our side, I hear its about the same on the other. Can't achieve peace like that, and it makes non militaristic (and non patriots) like myself feel pretty retarded for living here.

why is that a solution? I don't think it would make the war stop. No side is going to be happy with such a thing, either the Israelians will have to give up too much territory or the palestines won't get the cool religious places that they're after, either way one of the sides (if not both) will be angry.

this really doesnt matter, after everything they've done israel should feel lucky if they end up with any territories left in the middle east

religious people are a fucking blight upon this planet. cant believe what pathetic bickering this war is based on

Both of your points are unrelated to my statement, I was elaborating on how you can't make both sides happy by this 2 countries solution. Anyways to reply to your post I'd say that I have no educated opinion about the first statement (and I'm pretty sure nobody can have a "real" opinion about whats right and whats not when it comes to these things) and yet even though the brackets thingy I wrote also applies to the second statement, I can't help but personally agree with it.

I don't think that any number of debates or images can tell whos "really" right and whos "really" wrong; Theres no such thing. How do you measure that? By measuring the death toll of each side? By measuring how important the people who died were? How innocent they were? Etc...

Right and wrong will always be subjective.

But it's usually easier to tell who's more right and who's more wrong.

I disagree, usually if you try to look at things from a different perspective you'll think differently.
I think that its important to decide for ourselves whos right and whos wrong, but also to realise that, like you said, its always subjective.

The way we see it on the news here, Palestinians live in caves with their guns and Jews throw rocks at them.

Lemon, I'm the wrong guy to ask, I try to be as less involved in those things as possible. I don't know anything about that, the only thing I do know is that I personally never threw rocks at anyone :P

You could even ask me. I'd be like, no, I haven't met any.

Israel intentionally frustrates and humiliates the Palestinians living in Gaza. There are minor restrictions placed on things like farming and irrigation designed specifically to make life just a little bit more difficult. And what about proportional use of force? Killing civilians who have nothing to do with anything other than being subject to a de facto apartheid.

What IS the Israeli side of the story, anyway?

"Killing civilians who have nothing to do with anything"

The same could be said for the Israeli's being rocketed.

    *not taking sides.

Yes, but I'm referring specifically to the Israeli retaliation. Hamas rocket attacks are uncalled for, but a nation as developed as Israel should be beyond a completely disproportionate counteroffensive targeting civilians.
