Vanilla - A User's Guide (READ BEFORE POSTING)

Cheers, guys. Welcome to Vanilla, the ultimate board software. Remember how Bryce's avatar was Jesus? Well, this is the Jesus of the board software world.

Here are some nifty features which may appeal to you, the average Blizzfan:

    • MULTIPLE User-definable info fields on your userpage. Yes. It's the return of the Space Pirate/Ninja option. And More.
    • The Discussion View. No more "I don't want to make a topic in X category because it won't get any views". All discussions can be viewed at once for optimum viewing fun. You can, however, also browse by category, just like before.
    • The Whisper system. Sadly, there are no PMs, but instead one can "Whisper" messages, even create entire whispered topics to another user. This is great fun.

I also have to apologize for one thing, though small:

    • The avatars. They're only 32x32 pixels in size. Fuck you, though. Small avatars are epic.

Sigs. You can enter one line of text in your signature, whether it be just text, a link or an image. You just use the [img][/img] and [url=www.whatever.com]description[/url] tags. If you do not like seeing signatures on the forum, you also have the option to turn off signatures so you never have to look at them again, which I've done, because most of you losers make shitty sigs.

The image in your sig must conform to the following size requirements:
    sig size
DO NOT EXCEED 50px IN HEIGHT OR 400px IN WIDTH

Any sigs larger than this will result--bluntly put--in blaze's cock so far up your ass that he'll cum out of your mouth.

All-new crap that you should know about:

Fucking Awesome Emoticons (Stolen from SA Forums and elsewhere, ssshhh)

I felt like implementing :iceburn: and :cthulhu: since Fox has given them so much publicity. A full list of the emoticons follows (to post an emoticon, type the code surrounded by colons - :emoticonname:).

    • :?: - ?
    • :aaa: - aaa
    • :aaaaa: - aaaaa
    • :awesome: - awesome
    • :cthulhu: - cthulhu
    • :cube: - cube
    • :downswords: - downswords
    • :freeman: - freeman
    • :goatsecx: - goatsecx
    • :hitler: - hitler
    • :iceburn: - iceburn
    • :iiam: - iiam
    • :lovecube: - lovecube
    • :master: - master
    • :monocle: - monocle
    • :ms: - ms
    • :not awesome: not awesome
    • :nyoron: - nyoron
    • :psyduck: - psyduck

I may implement some "hidden" ones later. :iiam:

    Markdown

This is the coolest markup system on the internet. It's simple, intuitive, and is designed to be as straightforward as possible. Read more on this here. A full list of syntax can be found here.

    Wordfilters

That's right. At any given time, your typing "hi" can turn into "I like little boys" or anything of an admin's choosing. Beware.

    Text-Only Mode

This is the ultimate tool (it's located on the sidebar) for worksafe browsing. It disables all HTML on the page, which essentially means that you turn it on when you're browsing at work, and messages will appear exactly as entered. This means no images, etc.

    Changing Your Name

Your name can be changed. If you registered with a name you're no longer happy with, it can be changed. Get in touch with Blaze to have this done.

    Embedding Youtube and Google Videos

Input the following HTML (in HTML mode, obviously) and voila, you're set:
    VIDEO ID

    Basic Markdown

    Forum Basics

These tags are the most basic, forum-essential ones that you should know. If you have the urge to know all about Markdown syntax, visit the Markdown syntax page. Very useful.

    *italics* - italics
    **bold** - bold
    ***both*** - both

[Link Text](http://link.URL "Link hover-text") - BFB Hover over this!

    ![Short Description/Name of Image](http://imgurl.jpg)
    Auuuwww

Paragraphing is done automatically when you skip a line. To do a line break, i.e. just going to
the next line mid-sentence, etc, end the line with TWO spaces.

If all else fails, there's still plaintext or HTML for you to fall back on. Be cool, though. Use Markdown.

That concludes it. Happy posting, all!

Actually, those are BBCode, not HTML. HTML image code is as so:
    <img src="image/path.jpg" alt="short image description" title="optional tooltip"/>
    Markdown images are like so:
    ![short image description](image/path.jpg "optional tooltip")

    two things should be done:
    1) update references to current mods/admins (whoever they are, hopefully not senshit)
    2) remove the link to the hidden icons so I can hold my ability to quickly link to shitty images over noobs heads

Being able to edit other people's posts sure helps revealing secret emotes.
